The Rory 4-Ply Shawl Collar Cashmere Sweater
A shawl collar without the cardigan.
The Rory takes one of menswear's great cold-weather details, the shawl collar, and puts it on a pullover. No open front, no buttons, no extra bulk. You simply pull it on.
Designed in New England and knitted in Hawick, Scotland from 100% Todd & Duncan Grade A cashmere, it uses a 4-ply, 8-gauge rib that gives the collar enough body to stand up and frame the neck, while keeping the sweater far lighter than a heavyweight cardigan. The rib also has natural stretch, so it moves with you and springs back into shape.
It sits somewhere between a crewneck and a cardigan: more character than the first, less commitment than the second.

Why 4-Ply Matters
Four-ply yarn gives the Rory enough density to support a proper shawl collar without making the whole sweater heavy. The 8-gauge rib adds warmth and texture and helps it recover its shape after wear. It is warmer than a fine-gauge sweater and far easier to layer than an 8-ply cardigan like the Bruce.
Because the collar sits right against your neck, the softness of Grade A cashmere matters here more than anywhere. Read more about Scottish cashmere manufacturing and the heritage behind pieces like this one.
Fit
Comfortable and structured. The rib gives natural stretch through the body, and the collar adds shape around the shoulders and neckline. If you are between sizes, the models below are a useful guide.

A LUXURY FABRIC THAT LIVES UP TO THE HYPE
Todd & Duncan Scottish Cashmere Yarn
Four-ply Todd & Duncan cashmere throughout, including the collar, at 15.5 microns and 35mm staple.
Four strands twisted together for a yarn strong enough to hold its shape through years of wear, and the longer the strand, the stronger the yarn: at 35mm staple this fibre resists pilling and stretching in ways shorter cashmere can't match.
Kinross-spun, Loch Leven finished.
The Grade-A fibre gives the shawl body without stiffness.

OVER 200 YEARS OF HISTORY
Built by experience for all life’s experiences
A shawl-collar pullover, not a cardigan.
Knitted in Hawick, home to a shawl collar tradition that traces back to the fishermen's sweaters once worn along the Scottish coast, where a heavy folded collar was built to block wind and spray better than any lapel.
Our craftsmen shape the collar by hand so it sits close on the sweater body, then finish it in a ribbed knit that holds its structure without restricting movement.
Worn without the commitment of an open-front cardigan.
